Canberra - 2 June 2013

Introduction

Welcome to our first post on McGhies Travels 2013.  We will use our blog to keep a record of our trip and also provide all our family and friends with the opportunity to follow us on our dream trip.  We have travelled widely throughout Australia but have not been over in the west for many years.  In fact, the last time Tim drove the Nullarbor, the road was not sealed, so we hope that this part of the trip will be easier.
The planning phase of this trip has taken up a great deal of our time over the past 12 months and what started out as a dream (indeed, a childhood dream for Tim) is now a reality. We are travelling by car and will over night in motels and caravan park accommodation.  Our route is planned, accommodation booked (some more than 12 months ago!), some tours and sightseeing adventures booked but, best of all, a fantastic 16 day tour of the Kimberley, including Mitchell Plateau, awaits us in Broome.
Stay with us and follow us on our trip.  Any comments on our adventures are welcome - but we may be too busy to reply to them!  Nevertheless, we are looking forward to sharing our dream with you.

We should add at this point that writing a blog also is an 'adventure'.  We trust that our capabilities will not be too tested as we continue to develop this story of our dream trip.
